    Upgraded postprocessors

OPEN MIND develops PP technology inhouse.

This is a strong advantage as we can pass more information from CAM through our neutral file to the PP. This can enable more CNC control functions when available.

The downside is that customers feel that they need to have more control over their own posts. When a PP is proven, there isn't so much need to keep changing it, so we actually don't find this approach to be much of a hinderance, once a customer uses the PP with an "open mind".

Recent OM PP - 3x and 5x - have an increasing number of user defineable configuration parameters. So the modern user has control even if they haven't developed the PP themself with a toolkit.

The other benefit of having centralized PP development is that we can support posts that we have written with much higher assurance than having hundreds of "Fanuc" posts (as example) on the street.

But hyperPost is still there for users of 3D PP. Are you referring to 5 axis stuff only?

hyperPOST is an internal toolkit. Many years ago, OM-US provided this to certain customers. You have it because you purchased the software during that time window.

    OM-Germany always made 5x PP.

And today we provide the 3x PP with configurable parameters in place of having customers generate their own PP.

As with most topics, there are pro and con, but the earlier post talks about some reasons that we follow the current philosophy:

all posts for one control are based one common source
changes and support are more assured
OM sometimes changes pof neutral file format, and OM developed posts can keep up better

So my comment was intended for 3x and 5x users. You are in a special subset having access to hyperPOST and having used it!

Is there a pdf file on the configurable parameters? I want to learn more about them.

    Mornin' Single Phase:

Yes, there is backup information for each PP that describes the available parameters. The list and parameters are linked to each PP depending on the level of development, the control capability, the specific questions and requests, etc. Additional parameters can often be added with little effort.

It is best that you send us your current machine / control description (to confirm our records) and we will return a PP parameter list for a current release of this PP.

I do not understand all of what you are saying here. Where is the "backup information"?

    Sorry for using unclear language.

The backup information is the list of configurable parameters that are available for each PP. We have received your existing PP omf file and will get back to you.

We can always add configurable parameters if there are functions that you switch on/off regularly.

Further, there is a new NC Text function in v9 that allows you to place text from the joblist into the NC file at key locations - header, trailer, before tool change etc.
