Hi all I'm having trouble finding a specification for the encoders on my BMC 40 which I'm retrofitting with a faster 5 axis control. The encoders are: 25 S031 B12 2500 made by DRC in 06/91 ( I assume ) I've found a spec sheet for more modern DRC 25D encoders but some of the lettering used in the code doesn't tie up. I assume its 2500 line disks though hurco state 5000 lines so do they have 2x internal electronic interpolation like some of the more modern version? The code might suggest this as the 2 in the B12 would be 2x on the more modern versions code. They have 2 channels so can they be used in quadrature? RS 422? Analogue or TTL? I'm hoping not to have to replace them but need to confirm their spec and don't know too much about such things. Many thanks in advance for any input. | All quadrature encoders output 2 channels, some are differential, i.e. have a complement output for each channel, the quadrature signal can be used as the basic count of the encoder or be used by the controller to increase the quadrature signal resolution x2 or x4. DRC have gone through some changes so it may be a problem getting answers, I believe there is a DRC site you may be a able to contact for answers. DRC traditionally made mostly 5v TTL differential encoders. Al.

| Appears to be a standard differential encoder, 5v TTL with 2500 count resolution. Al.
