New SLV 40 'Spirit'! What to expect?

I just got ahold of my first CNC, a '91 SLV 40, with 18K hours on it, for $3000! I guess it hasn't been run for 5-7 years... I'm going to hook it up to a 30 hp motor to phase convert, anything special i need to know about that? Also, what might i expect when I throw the juice to this thing? I am an engineer by trade, am pretty computer fluent, and have a little bit of milltronics experience, but not a whole lot... Is this thing going to be bitter that someone let it sleep for so long? if so, what is the standard 'wake up' procedures?

I'm picking the guy up next saturday, and probably will have a screen lit by sunday evening... just hoping for some pregame info, to maybe make things run smoother...

    Thanks for any info/ ideas!

(oh, also, does anyone have any experience with one of these guys(SLV 40)? it seemed like a great deal, but i suppose, i don't really know...)

    Thanks!

    -Parker Bender

The biggest issue with the SLV40 is that it is a big Bedmill with little DC servos. Do not push the machine too hard. Once you fire it up you can give me a call and I will walk you thru it.
