Probing setup

Just got a VM10 and Renishaw OMP40-2/OMI.

Hurco were supposed to have set this up properly (but hadn't!).

I can get it to start a probing cycle (say on a hole), and it moves the probe to make 'first' contact, but then just stops, doesn't back up or carry on the cycle.

I have found two parameters that might be associated with this behaviour but there seems to be no more information on them:

RETRACT INIT (set to 3.00)
RETRACT INCR (set to 1.00)

Any ideas?

It may just be you have a parameter set incorrectly.

Hi

Check Renishaw probe parameters (by "colour logic").

Try set Enchaced Trigger Filter to 10ms. Sometimes it work with 0 sometimes not.

In WinMax (Ultimax) part probe parameters I set normally Fast Feed to 2-3 m/min and Measuring Feed to 200-300 mm/min.

Retracts normally work OK with 3 and 1.

If probing starts work remember that after every change of Feeds and Trigger filter you should recalibrate deflection offsets on the ring. Do it when you will that probing works OK.

8 of 9 switches on OMI2 should be set to OFF. Only SW1-3 should be set to ON.

If problem occurs only on some measuring range of angles (when probe touches in similar direction) and on other angles works OK I could mean that probe is defect.

good luck
