I would think your best bet is try the encoder manuf. what is the resolution?
Renco have whole encoders with 1024p/rev with 1/2" dia disc for $90.00 on ebay, NOS.
If you can change the resolution, you could use one of these.

Anybody have any encoder discs( had one break) that they would want to part with the encoder PN is #416-0248-010E. It has to be a .500 bore on the disc. PLMK if you have one and how much you want.

It's 200 line, I would prefer to use the original setup as I don't have a large working knowledge of Hurco system. I will eventually retro-fit this machine but don't have the cash right now.

You can probably get them from Midwest CNC, in Indianapolis.
I posted this thread before I called them they are searching for one now but I'm still looking till they get back to me.
