Exclamation Hurco KM3

I have a Hurco KM3. It has a manual speed control. Can you set the the programed speed manually and tap. I ran a KM3p when I worked and tapped with it. I am still wiring it up. I was told that the graphics monitor doesn't work.
Is there any easy way to check it out? I was told the text monitor is different.
Thanks in advance for any help. Dave

Yes, just set the speed and tap.
Yes, the graphics CRT is different to the text. It has a faster scan rate. If you plug the graphics cable into the text display, it will pop it after a while.

How would check out to see if it's the monitor or the graphics card.

You can check if it's the little fuse on the CRT driver (if it's the older, long card). I'ts next to the ribbon cable and is marked F1 if I remember correctly. It's a 2A picofuse. Check it for resistance first, then if it appears open, check the current the board is pulling is under 2A.
I'd be really surprised if the graphics card has failed. Those things were bulletproof in the grand scheme of things.

Well I finally powered up the Hurco KM3 with 220 volt signal phase to the two transformers. All the fans come on. The text screen says (press clear to inter Cmos setup. After you press clear, it wants to know
hard drive type. There are 49 choices. Stepping through all 49 it says below this, (ram conf. 0.) You have two choices save and exit, or don't save and exit. If you push either one of these, it will go to the next screen. Executing power on self test. There is a rectangle courser blinking in the lower left hand corner. It will blink and nothing happens. As I remember that is normal when booting up. This Hurco road from Kansas. Could the hard drive be toast. Haven't checked the fuse in the graphic monitor yet.

Well here is the latest. Messed with the Hurco two hours last night. Wasn't getting any ware. Went to bed to think. I need to check the cmos battery. Going to prick the two wires and check voltage. Wile getting ready, the one wire came out of battery. Unplugged the bat. The other wire came out also. Cut the end off the bat. The two connections are stainless steal, can't solder. Put two clips on the wires. The bat. voltage is 3.5 volts. Needs to be 4.5. Should be enough to keep cmos alive. (Rayvac 844) Put the hard drive info again. Wanted to know ram configuration. Can be 2, 4, or 8. Tried 8. Nothing. Shut off and back on. Hard drive info still there. Tried ram con fig. 4. It read exec file and came up. All axes move. Calibrate axes worked ok. WOW. Seal cane out of ram when I moved Z. Need to get new c mos battery. Now for the graphic display. Thanks for all the help. I live in Logansport Indiana. Hurco in 75 miles from here in Indy, but I get my help from England. Hauling this Hurco 700 miles, and it still works. Couldn't done it with out you.

After powering up my Hurco KM3 the first time, I doesn't want to power up every time. I have got it to power up 3 or 4 times since I got it. The card rack was dirty. Yesterday I took the cards & card rack out of the Hurco.
I am glad I did. It was Filthy. Chips every where. Fans were dirty.
Washed the greasy dirt off of everything. I found a wire disconnected
from the terminal strip going no where. It is a white wire It was just laying there. It goes up to the cable connect board (415 0193 002) I traced it to TB 52 pin 8. with an ohm meter.
Pin 8 is(Mach. Return). The manual says that white wire goes to TB 4 pin 38. I have it all back together. When I start it up, all I get is a flashing courser in the lower left hand corner of the text screen.. I have two green lights on the dual axis X & Y board. Also two green lights on the dual axis Z & Spindle board (Last two boards in the card rack) A green light on the CPU board. None are flashing. Before they would flash. Before when it booted up there would be a green light on the personality board. Every thing is plunged in right. I hope I didn't smoke a board. I read something about boot loader might need to be reloaded.
