| You can't do tapered helixes in conversational, so really the only (practical) way would be to program a linear move from the top to the bottom and pattern rotate it around the centre line at very small divisions. Probably not a great solution, but it depends on your application. If you have cam software, you'd be better using that to spiral mill it. I use featurecam and do this from time to time with good results. Gregor |

I did some research on the Hurco software on the mill. If you have the 3D package, you can choose XZ revolved about Z. Fill in the blanks and add top, bottom diameter and Z depth. The Hurco will do the rest. It makes a smooth cut and can be programmed in a couple of minutes. |
