HURCO VM1 Questions....

Why won't my tool release after having made a good tool change at the beginning of the program? Won't release manually or through program.

When I took the front cover off the head, everything seems to have been sprayed with oil from the spindle oil reservoir and the cap was popped off. Why is this?

Oh, I also noticed that the ram that pops the tool out isn't fully extending.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

-Sean

You've got a seal gone in the unclamping booster cylinder. Half an hour of tinkering will see a new seal in there.

ok, sounds simple enough. What am I looking for as far as the booster cylinder and procedure? And are seals a standard stock item somewhere or do I have to go through hurco?

Thanks,

-Sean

We had some goofy stuff happening with our VM2's. Inside the door there is a connection that had become soaked with cutting fluid. It is the connector that goed to the button to release the tool...the green button. Take it apart and clean it with some contact cleaner then protect it from coolant splash to see if that helps. It happened to the 3 VMs and the VMX that we have. It is cheap and won't cost a bunch of time.
