Question Tool Holders

What kind of tool holder does the Hurco use? I have a Sumitomo 3 inch face mill and it looks like it takes a shank that fits down into it with a slot milled in so that the "arms" on the shank prevent it from spinning in place. A bolt comes up from the underside and is threaded into the shank to hold everything in place. I just have no clue what to ask for or where to go online to look at it. Any help would be appreciated.

Pat

What model Hurco? You're likly going to have either a Cat 40 spindle or a BT 40 spindle. You need to know. You'll also need the correct pull stud for the holder. http://www.maritool.com/ is a good source for holders. You'll need whats called a shell mill holder for the correct spindle taper.

Hurco tool holder

It is a KM-3P knee mill with the qc 200 collet system.

You've got the Erickson Qwik Switch 200 nose. You need a KS200 shell mill holder. One source of some Erickson stuff is below. Google around a bit and you might find what you're looking for.

I don't have a km-3p but I do have a Kmb1 with the quick switch 200. My machine does not have the power or rigidity to run a 3" face mill with any kind of efficiency. Just wanted to warn you before you spent the money on a tool holder.

Actually you have a Universal Kwik Switch 200. The KM3p has more than enough power but watch the rigidity.

You can purchase these at Jensen & Assoc, Jeff Jensen 770-346-8858. GA

Tell him Buddy at Accurate Machine recommended him.
