The BEI MX series encoders rely on slip fit of an internal disk. The Base and disk are plastic and are low grade encoders. I used these for a few years but had some problems. They are cheap and I now only use Industrial grade encoders, they are more durable and last longer. Definitely do not use U.S.Digital encoders, they do not work well at all on Hurco's.

Thanks for that information. The reason I knew the part number of the BEI is because one of the encoders were replaced on a Hurco KMB-1 I just purchased. I did find it odd that it was just a slip fit. Dan
