I've been looking for a used CNC machine to retrofit with the Machmotion controls. I have a chance to get a Hurco KMB-1 with broken electronics and would like to know if this is a good machine to retrofit. I'm very capable of doing the mechanicals of a retro, but not sure about the electronics. Do these machines use servo motors, or stepper motors ? Someone mentioned they used "glass" scales ??? Are there any weak links I should be aware of with these mills? Any other helpfull tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan |

| Dan, The KMB-1 are fitted with Electrocraft D.C. servo's. The encoders can be reused with several modern servo drives. We have a KMB-1 and its a great choice for a retrofit. If you would like to chat please post your instant messenger. Welcome to the zone. Jeff Alessi |
