I have a hurco bmc30 made in 96-97 with a ultimax 3 controller. I've been working through several problems and now when I turn on the machine it gives me a contrl power is off ,press reset servo's and spindle error. When I reset the servos and spindle the error goes away but immediatly comes back when I turn on the control power. Seems to be kicking the power right back off. Can someone tell me what is causing this error and how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Judleroy |

| Press manual, then press and hold power then press and hold start. If the servos stay active and you can jog it, go into the back cabinet, find the two long terminal blocks half way up on the left side. One of the two will have a series of wires and jumpers between terminals 37 to 42. The side that has all wires is the side you are interested in. The wire from 37 goes to the X-limit switch, 38 is the return. 39 to the Y switch, 40 return. 41 to the Z switch, 42 return. If you have a bad switch, you can find out which it is by linking the matching pairs. Start with a prove-out between 37 and 42. If that works, try linking each switch individually (37-38, 39-40, 41-42). There is a possibilty that you may have more than one faulty. These are only emergency overtravel limits and fail because the switches never get actuated so they corrode up. Trace the bad 'un, replace it or leave the link in. Go for it! |

| Thanks again. Bless you. Was definitly the right direction. First when I took out the boards and put them back I missed hooking up one of the wiring harnesses (oops). The Z axis would not home still so . I looked at the jumpers (there's like a hundred of them) and it seemed to me a lot of the connection were loose. I pushed them all in tight and started up the machine. Everthing ran perfect. I was afraid to shut it back down after it homed and power held. I stayed at the shop and cut a polypro mold for a small prototype part that I need to cast. The mold was A+. Today I went back to the shop and everything still works great. I hope it stays that way for a good long time. Thanks Again Judleroy |
