I have recently started a job in a machine shop and have been put in charge of operating our newest machine, a HURCO TMM8 lathe. Aside from a 4 month long college certificate program in Idustrial Technology at a local community college, I have absolutly no experience in CNC machining. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any information on this machine or any useful information that would help me learn about the machine and/or the trade. |

| Good luck with that. I sat down with our lathe guy and spent a day learning to program and run our TM8 and I had a terrible headache that afternoon. It is simular to the Hurco mills but I still had a hard time getting it. That is my only experience with the machine. Although we have a TMM10 on order and should be here in the next couple of weeks. Have you taken any training from Hurco yet? You might went to talk to your company to see it you can get some training on that machine, that might help you get started in the right direction. Bernie P.S. Can you change your font color...it is hard to read on my computer. |

| Thank you for responding to my post. Unfortunately we had a really bad crash with our HURCO TMM8 ( No, I was not the one responsible for running the tool into the chuck ). So I havent had a chance to learn anymore about the machine. We have had the service guy there for two days now and it looks like it should be running tomorrow morning when I go in or shortly thereafter. At least thats what I am hoping because my head is throbbing from learning the G-code lathe I have been on since. As far as training from HURCO, I will have to look into that , but I highly doubt that my company would foot the bill for something like that. Thank you again for your response and I look forward to future advice.- Phil P.S.- Sorry about the font.....I hope that is better. |

| Yeah that color is much better. If you have some questions maybe I can get the guy that runs our lathe to answer them. When our new lathe gets here my boss wants me to set in on the training for that so I might be able muddle through it. There is a guy on here from Hurco maybe he can help you some too. Good luck.
