Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here. I've been running Fanuc controlled machines for more than 4 years but feel like stupid since I started working on our Hurco BMC30. I'm a Cimatron user and trying to modify the gpp post processor for Hurco but when it comes to canned drill cycles it does suck! 1 - I cannot define a rectract point for any of the cycles. The control does not allow using an R for the retract point. 2- When I use a code like below, the machine acts very strange. .. G0 Z50. G81 X125. Y90. Z-5. F100 X90. Y125. .. The tool comes to the specified X-Y coordinates at Z50. level and starts drilling to UPWARDS! When I replace the negative Z value with a positive one machine drills at the normal direction, but the Z value does not represent the Z bottom value, instead the control takes it as the distance from safety level. (for example if my clearance plane is Z50. and if I program a Z10. in G81 cycle the machine will go to Z40 but not Z-10.) 3- What's it all about with the three Z values in G83 cycle? Can I use them to have a retract point definition? Thanks - Zed |

| The Z is incremental from the start point. i.e. using your example: G0 Z50. G81 X125. Y90. Z55. F100 X90. Y125. the G83 has three z values, incremental depth, first peck, remaining pecks for example: G83 Z55 Z20 Z10 I can't recall from memory how my post constructs drilling cycles, but I do know that it has a separate rapid to the retract plane, immediately before calling the drilling cycle. |

| Hey thanks for help I guess I'll need to forget about the retract plane and have the post processor make some calculations instead. By the way, is it possible to convert the ultimaxII machine to ISNC (or whatever) to get a complete Fanuc emulation? |
