    Adding 4th axis

Just wondering what is needed to add a 4th axis to a KM5P mill.

    Is the axis pcb available?

Does the machine need a different software?

Do some positioners work better, or are easier to use, with the Hurco than others?

    Your experiences, comments are appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    bgmnn

Need more info as to what you wish to do. Do you need the 4th axis to contour with the XYZ, or is it strictly for positioning? And what resolution do yuo need???

Just wondering what the machine was originally capable of.

The machine is of early 1990 manufacture.

The x,y,z axis are discriminated to .0000 on the crt.

Is interface with the machine controller needed only for contouring?
