| Km3p I have a 1984 KM3P mill. I am some what familiar with trouble shooting and fixing them. I have since converted it to PC control. I always said if anything major goes wrong, it would be converted. So if I can offer any help to anyone. Best regards, Richard Konnen |

| There is a mostly dead 1988 Hurco KM3 (not -P) at a shop I used to work at. The control was on its last legs when it died in 2001. The main CRT on the MAXII control burned out - so I swapped the graphics CRT over. The Dallas memory chips on the memory board died (were only rated for 10 years...)(These chips each contained a micro lithium batt to preserve contents with power off) Once the mem board died you could only run the active program - anything you tried to store got currupted. So this meant uploading/downloading via serial ports. When it died the last time the second crt went... A few months ago I powered it back up. I could blindly jog the table and activate the spindle. I ran this machine back in its prime, I'd love to get it and retro fit it. - Problem is the owner is content to use it as a table for storing extra KURT vises, and every time I ask to buy it he ducks the question. Meanwhile I have bought an X3 to play with... Dreamin up the conversion in Solidworks. |
