Is this a air opperated tool Changer?
Do you still Have air tool oil in the air line lubricator? When this runs dry it can cause the air cylinders to stick.
Hi
I have a Hurco Vm1 and the toolchanger arm is sticking and not changing the tools properly. The arm is in line with the tool when it is coming in to change. But it is sticking when changing tools. Seems to work if i give it a tap when it is stuck... Although the small pot of oil is still full of oil and hasnt used any it seems in six months. Could this be the problem?? ...Help.

Sometimes if the coolant gets out of the 6% water oil mix these tool changers will start to thow a holder. If the grip is sticking pull it apart and I normally use a grease by Lucas oil called Red and Tacky. They can also have a problem with the arm being low or high. this is a little harder to fix. You will want timming marks and Hurco has a drawing for the spacer to set the machine up right. Before you take anthing apart put timing marks on the arm and the shaft. To mark not only the timing but the height the arm is mounted at.

I had a HAAS VM3 do this too me once. It was caused by a bad spindle. The bearings where going bad the spindle was over heating causing the spindle to heat lock the tool into the spindle. It would suddenly POP and send the tool flying out of the holder into the part, or bottom of the machine. Check to see if your tool holder and spindle feel hotto the touch. They might feel warm. If they feel hot your in trouble
The Hurco has an air line that runs too it sending an aspirated flow of air and way lube from a small regulator down by the way lube reservour. If it is clogged this can cause issues as well
