Do you get a flashing cursor in the bottom left of the text display?
I've been trying to get a dad's hurco KM3 up and running after sending the servo boards away for repair. The intial fault was with the Y axis 'chuddering'. Spoke to Shane at martin CNC and after a few correspondents we sent the cards over for him to look at. The boards came back as good as new with the fault being identified as dirt causing the problem.
With the hope of getting the machine backup and working again i installed the cards, powered the machine up and got it working. After about an hour doing the first bit of maching the machine froze, the spindle was still running but the we could not control the machine; Key controls and the screen was not responding. I powered the machine down, powered it back up again, ran a program through. Again after a while the machine froze in exactly the same way. It got me thinking that the dirt problem might be causing this problem so i stripped out the whole rack and cleaned all the cards up as best i could. I reinstalled the rack and cards, powered up the machine and got it running. Again the machine would freeze after anywhere between 10 mins and an hour.
After a couple of weeks of looking for loose connecions etc the fault has got to the point now that the machine won't start up at all. All i get now is a blank screen and the fans running. I don't get the led's lighting up as it boots up. The one thing i have noticed is that i don't get the green led on the personality board as i used to get.
Has anyone got any ideas of what might be causing my problem, i'm realing banging my head against a wall with this machine.
Sorry for the epic post but i'm desperate for some help with this.

Thanks for the reply
Unfortunatly I don't get anything on the screen at all.
Could it be the graphics card?
Cheers

bushbaby,
I don't have any advice, but if you need some spare parts let me know.
I retrofitted my KM3P earlier this year.
Some of the drives, monitor, etc. may be the same.
Bloke knows ALL about Hurcos
JAckal![]()
Everything is bio-degradable, if you run over it enough times with the lawnmower.
I've been looking into retro fits but cost and time to do the job are major issues. I'm sure the machine can be fixed but my knowledge of the machine and what i should be looking for is limited.
The problem i have is finding someone in the UK who can help us out with spares for these machines. If anyone knows of any companies in the UK who can do repairs on these machine I would be made up if they could share that info.

Has anyone got any suggestions that would help me?
I believe bloke is in the uk. All the symptoms point me to a bad power supply. With hurcos, it's not just the amount of volts they put out, but also ac ripple on the dc side. Bloke is about the best on hurcos. You need to either get him out there or on the phone. I'd bet he can diagnose it in a few minutes.
Well i've checked the power supply and everything looks ok. The worse of the voltage readings was -13V. Ripple voltage were around 10mV for all of the DC voltages.
Not sure what to check next???
I just checked one yesterday, however a newer machine. The 5 vdc had no ripple, and should be no lower than 5.1. There should be a place to check voltage up at the pendant as well, I was told from a hurco tech to make sure you have 5.05 volts up to the pendant. No luck with bloke?
I've read somewhere that if the green light on the personality board isn't lite then it's a communication problem between the personality board and the graphics controller. Is this correct?
How does the CPU communicate with the graphics board and personality board? Has anyone got a block diagram or anything showing how the boards 'talk' to each other?
I'm just trying to narrow down what i need to be looking for.

Hi,
Did this get sorted as I've got a similar problem...
The machine boots and runs fine, but after between 1 and 10 minutes the keys and screen stop responding. The machine will carry on cutting as normal.
After reboot all's fine again, but then... Well, as above.
Tried another power supply, no go.
Thoughts?
Ray.
No, machine is still dead as a dodo. I've also checked the power supply and it's fine.
Hoping someone on here might be able to give us some help??
