ULTIMAX II Servo fault in Z

    Hi!

I bought an old BMC30, with ultimax II V8.61. It give me a massege: Servo fault in Z This massage come, when I try to move the z in the manual mode. I try an other dual axis bord (a good board), but the massege is remain. When I plug the z axis to the x chanel, than it can move. I think that the cables and encoder and servopack work correctly.
    What could be the problem?

    Thanks

    Thanks Saghirecho!

The all other funktions are good. The X Y S axis, the tool changer, the pneumatic system, the keyboard and all. Why only bad for the Z axis? The cpu find the ZS axis board, and it have not problem does not start the Z axis until.

You have proved the Z axis motor, encoder, wiring and servopack work correctly by hooking it up to X.

When you installed the replacement Z/S board did you ensure that the EPROMs are the same as the old Z/S board, and that the shorting jumpers were set exactly the same way? There are many different EPROMs and many different ways to set up the shorting jumpers which let the dual axis board operate in different machines.

Also, which type of dual axis board do you have. The old style has 2 separate green LED's and the new has a 10 LED bar between the 25-pin connectors.

I would not install a retrofit control yet. That is a lot of work. As you say the machine is very close to working right now.

    Hi fasto!
    Thank you for reply!
Yes. The dual axis board jumpered correct. This is a new style board with 10 red led. The eeproms were replaced from the old dual axis board, and the numbers are correct. (it is a pdf file on this forum, how to set the board).
The fault massage come when I try to choose the z axis in manual mode, and not have to move or jog the axis. I can acces all funktions before this point, and all funktions are correct.
    (sorry for my bad english)

OK, is the original dual axis board also a 10-led version? The EPROMs are different for the old style 2 green LED and new style 10-red LED versions.

The error happens as soon as you push the "Z" button on the console, before you move the jog wheel? I haven't seen that before.
