    1979 Hurco Basics

    Greetings,

I came across a 1979 Hurco Machining Center recently.
I only had a quick look at it and do not know the model number.

It appeared to have a 16 location tool holder and a perhaps 13inch wide table
and about the same Y-axis travel. It only had a single monitor display and a microcassette recorder for data storage.

Can anyone give me a clue on what a Hurco of the Era was capable of?
Perhaps a link to Hurco Machines of that generation?

I'm not sure of the Hurco lineup in 1979. My 1989 BMC-20 has a 14" wide table, and 14" of Y travel, and a 16-tool carousel toolchanger.

A single screen control could be a B or a BX control. I don't know if Ultimax was available in a single-screen configuration.

Are you certain that it's a 1979 model? I believe that the first, and last digits of the serial number taken together show the machine's year.

That would be an M1. It would have been fitted with a B series control originally and would have been capable of machining basic shapes and stirring pancake batter with the right whisk mounted in the spindle.

    I like that one.
