    Losing position in y axis

I have a vmx24 that has started losing zero in the y axis. It moves about .001 when returning to zero. By the time I run a few parts, I'll be several thousanth's off location.Any thoughts or ideas ??

i have been noticing a few things like that as well, thought better of it then, but now you got me thinking. mine has been after shutdown tho, and not during the run. calibrating the machine is a daily ritual, so it was weird to see my z depths vary a few thou from day to day. i guess i will pay closer attention to it and see what i come up with.

Y axis variations are sometimes caused by the ram or turret clamps not being tight.
A loose vise will also cause problems

We had a similar problem years ago on a kmb1-bx machine and the culprit turned out to be the timing of the encoder to the motor was off a little.

The zero would shift in one direction and the more cycles you run the more it shifts.
