With my experience, the Parts counter on the Hurco machine's are unreliable at best

. When I shut down the Ulitmax III & 4 controls, the parts counter automatically resets it self to Zero upon start up. Also, if you need to rerun a certain part of the program again, it will automatically a add one part to your count, and I havn't found out how to avoid that yet. Also, it will only add 1 to the part count and I haven been able to modify it other wise. So instead of calling a parts counter, it should be referred to "cycle counter". I always like stacking the parts neatly in a box so they can be counted easily, or if you have a scale around, weigh 10 or more to get the average weight of a part, then weigh all your parts and dive it out to get your # of parts. Even on the Fanuc OM's that I run, although the parts count works better, I still can't always trust them.
If you just want to add a few parts to the Hurco Parts counter, you could run just the last block (position Block?) over and over again until you get the right count. I have not found the parameter or setting on the Hurco's that allows you to easily set your parts count to whatever you want.
There maybe a way your could merge a NC line of code at the end of the program to add a # to a unused offset and use that offset for your parts counter, but it sound like a lot of work and probably wouldn't be easily seen also. If you could email me a PDF file of the NC programing, I may be curious enough to page thought it and see what I can find.
I know this isn't the answer you wanted to hear, but it's the best I can come up with.
I'd love for someone to prove me wrong though.
