Hi Tex,
I can recommend the Fusion kit. I fitted it to my X2 and the whole process went smoothly.
I then got a power supply and steppers from Keling and a Gecko g540. I connected this to an old WinXP pc i had left over after my last upgrade.
Dont expect too much from the X2. Its quite sloppy and when you start doing some heavy cuts in the X axis you will see the head start to flex a lot more than you would like. This will limit the depth/stepover you can cut, even with soft materials like plastic.
Having said that, with light cuts at low speeds the X2 can deliver surprising accuracy if you keep your gibs adjusted and your ball screws tight.
I just finished hooking up limit switches and next is a spindle and coolant control.
What CAD/CAM software are you planning to use?
If you have any additional questions feel free to PM or email me.
