Hey everyone! I am going to be building a small desktop CNC machine (about 24" x 24") soon and it will be my first one. I am concerned about a few things and would like to run it by the people here on the forums to see what you think. I am interested in cutting wood and plastics. I have found (ie: FREE!) three 150oz/in stepper motors. 2.3V, 4.6A, 200 steps per rev. Will the HobbyCNC driver board be enough to power these motors with a rated output of only 3.0A? I have also found (ie: FREE!) two 33" Thompson linear bearings for my gantry to ride on and they provide very little resistance to being driven. I am using an acme screw (also FREE!) with a pitch of .1"/rev but do you think the 150oz/in motors will drive a 1/4" tool through wood or plastic? I will be using a trim router for a spindle. |
