New cnc on Craftex B222L lathe

Hi guys,

Two thumbs up to 3 axes EZ board from hobbycnc!
I received my board kit and three 127ozin steppers last week. Assembling the circuit was easy with the well written instructions from hobbycnc and it worked right away as expected.
I only gave a clean-up an tunning to my 4yrs old lathe, then i modified a pair of surplus 63t 3mm pitch belt sprockets from Princess Auto here in Ontario, one to fit the 8mm xslide shaft and the other the 12mm end of the z axis feedscrew.
The leadscrew is ACME thread 3mm pitch, clasp nut is brass.
The xslide lead is ACME thread 2mm pitch, nut is cast iron.
All thrust bearings are steel in cast iron, i did some truing and smoothing but that's all.

The motors have 18t wheels resulting in 3.5:1 ratio. The belts are 1/4 wide.
The power for the steppers board is 30V from a lab power supply.
The stepper drives are set at approx 1.5A limit.
Step setting is full step.
Max verified rapids velocity 3000Hz or 1000rpm.
Observed Max current draw from the PS 1.5A. This occurs in rapids.
Idle current for 2 axes is about 600mA total.

Two weeks ago when i ordered my board and motors i had no idea that G-codes even existed, but i needed an easier way to make some 4in OD parts for a project. Last night i tested the complete part generation program for the aluminum "dishes" i need fabbed, in Turbocnc on my door-stopper P166 with a fresh DOS 6.22.
Kudos to Dave Rigotti of hobbycnc and Dave Kowalczyk of DAK Eng.
