Hobbycnc wireing help needed

Help! I am stalled because I don't know eletric wireing well enough to descipher the diagrams.

I have a 4 axis proboard with an MPJA transformer. I need help wiring it up. The photos on the Hobbycnc site are not clear or particularly helpful.....

I am using the supplied bridge rectifier, 56000uf 50V Capacitor, bleed resister, MPJA transformer, a switch and two fuse holders. I will post pictures of each component and then ask for help on how it should be wired.

Please use simple terms like "put the RED wire here".Please don't get all "technical" until after the system is wired up but NOT plugged in. After that you can explain to your hearts content.....

Anyone willing to help?

Bill

Sure.
I have mine wired up and working.
Transformer has 2 sets of wires, input and output. Input side is wired to the plug that goes into the wall. Smaller fuse is inserted into the input side.
Output side goes to the rectifier. the terminals are marked. Connect the remaining terminals on the rectifier to the capacitor. Make sure + connects to +. Resistor goes accross the capacitor.

Ask questions if you need

Bill,
I have the Proboard 4 axis running on my foamcutter. Going to later setup my mill/drill and maybe use the same board. Not sure yet.
If I can help all you need is to put it on here. Have you installed the components in a case or close to what is pictured in the diagram? Also your transformer as I am using a different type but they work the same. Do you know the side in and out for it. Mine is 110 volts in and 24 out but actully a bit more when hooked up.
Let me know what you have setup and if you have a picture it should make a differance.
John
ps: Noticed somebody beat me to it so disregard unless I can help.

Thanks for the response BobF. My problem is with the terms used. I am not an "electric" wiring guy but I can build from instructions. Up till now I have bought ready made power supplies and have never attempted to build one......

I have wired up things to the point I could from the pictures but then I chickened out because I am dealing with AC current.....
The MPJA transformer has an input side (which I gather is the Red Black side) and an output side (which I gather is the Blue yellow Blue side). The 4 amp fuse should be connected to the Red side of the input? Should the Power plug with the big blade (ribbed line) be connected to the red or black side of the transformer?

I think I understand the rectifier connections but I am not sure where the switch is connected and what is connected to it.

I really appreciate the help and suspect others will to.

Bill

The AC plug has 2 blades that go into the wall socket. One blade is wider than the other and the instructions say put the fuse in the small blade lead. Look at the AC cord and you see a "tracer" down one side of the card. This is how you tell the small blade at the other end of the wire. On mine it is white lettering along the side of the wire with the small blade.
Next comes the switch. Look at your switch, you will see an area that looks like it could have had 2 more contacts. Wires line up with this. 2 blanks, 2 wires from AC, 2 wires going out of switch.
Next is fuse, must be in small blade side.
Next is transformer, 1 wire from switch, 1 from other side of fuse.

small blade plug - switch - fuse - transformer - rectifier - capacitor
wide blade plug - switch -------- transformer - rectifier - capacitor

I can't read the label on your transformer so I can't tell for sure what the leads are. Read me the label information. The red/black side looks like the primary, probably setup to allow both 120 and 240 volt operation. The blue/yellow is probably the secondary and you connect only the blues probably. No connect to the one labeled centertap or shown in a picture as the center of the coil. The red and black side connect for 120 volt, colors don't matter, but I would put the red in the fused side.

Hope this helps.

How is this? I have a doubt about the switch wiring but it seems to work.

You have a double pole switch. I recommend running both leads through the switch. That is also the way shown in the instructions.
Still not sure on your transformer. The picture drawn may be correct, may not. Would still like to know what the label says.

Also, 4 amp fuse should be in small blade side of plug.

picture shows connect outside black and red pair to 120V input. Connect inner pair together. Blues are you 24V leads. Connect to rectifier. Yellow is no connect. Cap it with a wire nut or electrical tape.
All your other connections are as above in the previous explanation and my crude word wiring diagram.

any more questions?
