Transformer question & Feedback.

Hi Dave,

My kit is coming together nicely so far. I did notice that in the instructions you never mention actually drilling the hole for the bridge like you do in other steps.

My question is on the transformer, what is the third wire normally used for? The Green/Yellow one. I know it is not used in your package design, just curious for my own knowledge?

Its probabally the secondary centre tapped wire, it would be used as a common on two-rectifier full wave designs.

Thanks, we'll correct that in the next printing. Heck at least we tell you to mount the bridge rectifier! :-))

Yes it is for a dual rectifier setup. Tape it over and out of the way.

I am not an EE and here is the proof: I bought the 3axis kit and put it together with the big transformer suggested on the HobbyCNC site. I thought a transformer just stepped up or down the voltage. The board is looking for DC - how do i convert the transformer to CD and why was that part number not given also?

The kit said i only needed the motors, a case and the transformer they suggested....what gives?

The PACKAGE only needs the tranny and case. ALL other components are included. Sounds like you just bought the driver board kit "la carte" OR the driver board/stepper COMBO.
