Salvaged 8 steppers from work (label printers) and would like to know if they are good enough for CNC foam wing cutter? Can't find any specs on either of the motors. Both are 6 wire. Would the HCNC or Xylotex controllers work?

The Hobbycnc controller will drive those just fine. The Vexta for certain, the other motor you'll have to find the specs for, namely the current rating. As long as it's 3 amps or less, it will work. But you need to know so that the current limit can be set on the board.

IF using our foam cutting driver board (4AUPCWHC) then 2A is the max limit. I'm thinking these steppers are a poor choice. Look for 1-1 1/2 A 5-8V steppers.

Would the 4AUPC be a better choice. The bow heat control is a nice feature, but that function could be handled by another power supply, right?

Don't discount the value of auto heat control! Ask those who have it!
