Why only 12-14v for foam cutting boards?

    Hi all,
I have a 4 axis foam cutting board and the recommended voltage for the cnc side is only 12-14v,
Why is this as usually we try and pump as much voltage as we can into the motors? Is there a reason hobbycnc recommend the low voltage? or is it a case that when cutting foam the speed is low therefore higher voltage is wasted?
I ask as am running about 40v on my PicStep controllers.

    Rob

Foam cutting requires a fairly low speed so there's no real advantage of the higher speed your steppers can run at a higher voltage.
