I am interested in creating custom aluminum parts for micro scale R/C helicopters, cars, and trucks, as well as 1/24th, 1/25th scale plastic model cars and trucks. Generally, the parts would fit within a one inch cube. The parts will be unique and for personal use. I am very familiar with various 2d and 3d CAD software. But, I have no experience with CNC whatsoever. I've been looking around on Google, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what I would need and whether or not I can do this for hundreds of dollars, instead of thousands. Any advice, direction, help you can give me is appreciated. |

You will first need a mill, software, etc. This may be too much info. Look at the last link. http://www.sherline.com/CNCmenu.htm http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40940 http://members.shaw.ca/swstuff/dspic-servo.html http://www.linuxcnc.org/content/view/21/4/lang,en/ http://www.machsupport.com/ http://www.cncsources.net/ http://www.cuttingedgecnc.com/rcmain.htm If you want a ready to go unit, try Sherline. If you are good at electronics, then you might want to build it yourself. Iron-Man |
