    steper motor brain fart

    Guys,
Having a brain fart here. One of my motors on my mini mill gave up it's ghost. I bought a replacement on Fleabay but am unsure of it's usefullness. It is an applied motion 5034 - 350. I plan on using it in series which according to the applied motion website http://www.applied-motion.com/produc...ors/size34.php it is rated at 4.17A.

I have a driver capable of 2.5A per phase. Where my confusion lies is whether the 4.17A listed is the total rating or the per phase rating. If it is the per phase then I am screwed, but if it's the total then it would be 2.08A/phase which would work.

It's 5.9a per phase (unipolar rating), when you wire it in series the per phase current is 4.17a. So the best you can do is run it at 2.5a per phase which will give you considerably less power than the motor is capable of.
Phil, Still too many interests, too many projects, and not enough time!!!!!!!!
