Hi, I have a 1968 Triumph Daytona 500 (twin carb) bike. Got about 2/3 rds finished rebuilding it, got married, kids, etc. Still have it in storage.

I really enjoy the look of those early bikes - and the the light weight.

I am still trying to decide if a chopper Triumph is really cool or just plain blasphemy. Anyway, nice project.

Not that I was around then...but chopper Triumphs weren't exactly hens-teeth back in the day. I have enough of the old biker rags with articles and photos to assume that they were a slightly more reliable incarnation of the Harley chopper.

OK, fooled me. I looked into this thread because I thought "Triumph Chopper" was a new chopping-type step motor drive.:-)

Blasphemy

But I suppose they look sort of cool, however, back in the days when I rode I bike I never met anyone riding a chopper who could keep up with me on a gravel road. I rode a BSA 650 which was pretty much identical to a Triumph.

The BSA 650 - you are right - they are almost identical to the Triumph 650 / 750 of the period. I had a chance to ride one (and fall of course) - That thing had so much low end torque it was scarry. We joked about pulling small trees with it.
