Hi, I'm new here, I was searching around the net for info on CNC and stumbled on this site. Now I'm stuck here for hours reading My question is..... What's the best way to have a small , one off type part made ? I want to make a 50cc 2 stroke engine crank case. I have a AutoCAD drawing of it in 2D and 3D. I'd like a billet case but I don't know where to start. I realise it will not be cheap but the is a limit to the buget too..... Each part would be approx 150mm x 150mm and 100mm thick.... Something like this.... |

What part of Australia are you in? The problem with a one-off (if you don't have a machinist with equipment available who is a friend and willing to help you out for a case of beer and a bs session) is that set-up fees and programming time can easily cost 90% of the quoted price. Have you tried Harrop? There are quite a few Aussies on here with personal CNC mills...you might want to ask them if they would be willing to try a non-personal project as a favor for a lowbuck option...I would suggest buying the material and paying all shipping costs as well as any "special" tooling they might suggest. If you lived here in the US, I would suggest eMachineshop.com...however, that would require you redrawing the part using their "special" software...or forwarding them a copy of your 3d rendering and having them "convert" it for a fee. If my machine was up and running I would offer to do it for you, but as I am in the middle of a move, I am unable to offer my services. |

| is that the actual part itself?and is there another side to this case or just that one part needed?and what is your budget on the piece, maybe ill cut it for you,i would supply material being in the usa no sense shipping materail to me that i just would be shipping back, lighter of couse,so figure out a budget for me to machine + materail and i might be able to do it,if its not too cheap, and i can do it between runs like on a weekend steve |
