What is the best CNC equipment / software for my needs
First I would like to say hello to everyone in this group - I am new here and have enjoyed lurking and reading many of the threads presented here.
Now down to the question at hand:
I have experience on most hand tools, both powered and non powered varieties, as well as table tools include sanders, grinders, lathes (wood), drill press, jig saws, table saws, chop saws (compound included) and routers.
I have been building 1/12th scale miniatures furniture item off and on for over 25 year, and have prided myself for the realistic results I produce. Now I want to get into some of the more intricate pieces that will require a greater accuracy than I can produce by hand tools alone. I want to be able to make drawer pulls, hinges, key holes, and all the other part you find on antique furniture.
Accuracy is key for my satisfaction, If I can’t take a picture of the full scale item and the resulting 1/12th scale item and not tell them apart, I’m not satisfied. I also want to get into some mold making, casting, and silversmith work as well. I need to be able to carve out intricate designs in both wood and metal to scale, and my hand held Dremel just isn’t doing the job. I also need to produce many like items, so CNC has caught my attention.
My current collection of mini tools include: wood lathe, table saw, jig/scroll saw, Dremel tools and all the attachments, disc & belt sander, and a large collection of assorted hand tools.
I am intending to add CNC tools to my collection and am asking for your advise. I want to add a metal lathe, mini mill, and a router table.
BTW so far the software to run this equipment will cost more than the equipment - so any suggestions there would also be greatly appreciated.
