Need some help with ball screw installation

I just received a ball screw along with a fixed and free end bearing assembly and would like some help in understanding the assembly process.

In particular I’d like to know how the 2 spacers are used in that assembly. As shown in the attached picture there is a small one (5mm) and a longer one (8mm) and both are sized to fit over the machined part of the shaft. What are the uses for either? In other words, why are their 2?

MY assumption is that the snap ring is used to secure the bearing on the free end assembly even though it came packaged with the fixed bearing parts. Also, there is about 0.010” lateral play in the bearing in the fixed assembly. Is this normal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
