Hi Guys,

I dont know if this qualifies as part of the hobby thread, but please bear with me. I work for my family business and I run a VMC500 (16) mill with a fanuc control, 2 x SCM routomat 2's with a NUM 750, and a Fagor control, and an SCM 121 routerwith a NUM 1040 control. I convert dwg and dxf drawings through alphacam into the code for the machines at present.

My work life is rapidly becoming my hobby life and I am very keen to do the following, and I am looking for a bit of help getting me started.

I would like to;

- learn & develop 2D knowledge and learn 3D work.As mentioned I use autocad and alphacam at present and produce 2D wear bends and wear strips / change parts etc and can put ramps and chamfers on etc, but I want to learn 3D drawing to help with below.

- Eventually use the build thread on this forum to build a 5 axis machine (possibly using the Daughty drawings, g max software, and mach 3control panel)

All this is up for discussion, and I can be lead in the most suitable directions.
I am coming into this a little green to be honest. I use the machines listed above but i am self taught so my knowledge only applies to the work i have to do.

Any question will answered to the best of my knowledge and all help will be greatfully received.
