Im not sure if this is exactly what ur looking for, but it's got a cutting area of 6" X 6" X 6"
The full instructions can be found here: How to make a mini milling machine- manual or CNC!
That's the plans for the machine i'm am wanting to build.
Hi all,
I've been talking to local people about cnc/lasers..etc, and been browsing the forums and other CNC related sites. Being new to the mechanical side of things there's a load of stuff for me to wade through.
My 'project' is to make a small, either cnc or laser cutting machine for small sensor designs, down to the micrometer ranges (microns) in accuracy.
The blocksizes would never be larger than 50mm^3, so I'm looking at a very small 'table' machine.
If anyone has any pointers on the most appropiate parts for this type on construction, I'd gladly appreciate it.
Note: This is non-military or government connected - It's my own hobby projects.

I saw that, but the webpage wants me to register to download the pdf.
I'm trying to minimise my registrations and 'junk mail' received.
It is possible to transfer that idea to an all metal frame. This I can have constructed locally.
I'm curent floating around the parts...
The right motor units that have decent micro-stepping
Lead screws or linear drives ??
Spindle type
Cooling system
etc..
I would like to apply a X-Axis 'feed unit' for production runs. Maybe I can make this as a 'docking unit' that attaches itself to the side of the mill.
I'll be building my own motor drive boards, and a small MMI tailored for my application.
thinking thinking
