    Default IRIS Mechanism - help

hi everyone. I'm trying to make an iris mechanism. I'm trying to draw it out mathematically so i can try make a parametric program.

my problem is the pivot point for each blade. It seems the blades bind when you try to open the iris.

has anyone made one of these and can shed some light on this.. thank you

I am no mathematician but it seems the pivot would be the centerpoint of the external arc it should also be the center of the smallest arc so when pivoting out that it will not bind with the next leaf.

Late to the party, but came here via searching iris mechanisms myself. Just wanted to point out someone has already created a program for iris diaphragm design called iris calculator:
    iris-calculator.com

Hope that helps others arriving here like me.
