Hardinge HC Handles

...and more???
I just picked up an HC and there a bit of a story that goes along with the deal. I first saw it on eBay and it went for over a week with no bids and no reserve. So I put a bid of $1800 and was ultimately outbid. The original buyer end up backing out due to shipping expenses so I drove down to Bandon Oregon, on Friday, to pick it up. The agreed upon price was $1900 but when I arrived the lathe was face down as it had fallen off the skates as it was being moved . My first reaction was to turn around and drive home to Portland but I was curious about the extent of the damage. It was obvious that the handles for the cross-slide and carriage were damaged. There was supposed to be a forklift there but the seller had not been able to contact a neighbor to get access to it. So we went down to a local rental place and were able to get a Ditch Witch delivered and were able to get the machine upright.

The damage to the cross-slide handle bent the shaft but apparently only on the end as the cross-slide moves freely...I will have to open it up to ensure the nut is ok but all other suggestions or comment are needed here. Can the shaft be straitened? Will I need to remove it to fully asses the damage? what should I look for as possible side effects of a damaged shaft?
The Big wheel on the carriage broke clean off at the spokes on what looks like a direct facial hit. The carriage moves freely

This lathe was supposed to be a turnkey deal now it seems I will have to get intimately involved with measuring and checking to make sure that any internal damage didn't occur.
Since I am a complete newb with lathes and their operation I would like some suggestions where to start checking. The machine is still on my trailer and it will take a couple days to arrange my shop and put the beast on the floor. In the meantime I'm looking for a parts list and replacement parts.

The final cost...well not really final...was $900 with 8 threading lead screws and followers. I'm looking for metric versions... and several tools holders for the turret.
So I am looking for some replacement parts - the two handles, the post that holds the speed control and a couple switches that I will have to define in a later post

More later when I get it ready to turn on....

I've seen a couple posts about upgrading to a CNC so any comments on that project would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Bill
