FANUC 18T, c-axiz not activating

Hardinge T42 sp with fanuc 18t.
were trying to put flats on a diameter but keeps alarming out on M23. says improper M code. I need M23 to turn contour mode on though
any suggestions

I don't think that machine has that option,none of mine do

If your machine has spindle orient you could just use that, try programming B 0.0, or B 45.0 or any other angle
