| The machine is a T42 SP and it shows to have a tailstock break-away error. Problem is two-fold.... one, the machine hasn't been used in over a week and it's in exactly the same position (turret/index/etc) as when it was last used. I'm quite certain that it hasn't been hit. In PCMDIAG->Status->X10... the tailstock bit shows to be "0" and regardless the effort to loosen and rotate it back up to the limit, it will not set to "1". At this point I'm thinking we may have a proximity sensor issue or something else going on. Was just curious to see if anyone has other suggestions or has been through something similar. Thanks, Chuck

Those machines have the Z-axis torque limiter and the tailstock breakaway switch tied into the same alarm.... but monitors both switches seperatly. If they are both working correctly, maybe a bad I/O board. |

| The breakaway switch is on the tailstock and in the case of a "hard rub" on the tailstock it stops machine movement to prevent further damage. If rotating the tailstock back into position doesn't reset the switch, I would suspsect the switch or wiring is faulty, especially if the tailstock wasn't hit. |
