hardinge retrofit

here is a harding i bought 2 weeks ago at a auction cheap
i plan on doing a EMC2 cnc retrofit with servos and spindle encoder , and maybe a c axis
it is a 12"-13" harding , super precision manual 5c collet turret lathe ,.
and here is a pic of it in my shop .


i have some servos and they are like 7A cont , 26 max
would the smallest viper drive work . ?
i plan on running 75 v .

What are you going to do about ballscrews and motor mounts?

might be easier to clean up the machine /paint and sell.Then buy a
hardinge with a dead controll and refit.You have alot of work ahead to fit ballscrews and some way to spin the turret.

no with the brake . low speed . and feed burnout . it wouldnt sell for as much as it should . esp around here .
motor mounts , i will post pics as i do them ,. i am not sure yet on the X

no . ... i use it far to much manual .. lol
if a had a cnc 12" engine lathe ... that is really what i would use more often .
so it sits in the state it is currently in ,,,,
i am slowing collecting parts
but i have another cnc conversion that is higher priority currently ,

I have that chucker lathe and I love it as a manual machine.

I just bought a Hardinge AHC with a full Ominturn retrofit for $2000 in great shape, and I've had a Hardinge CHNC with a Fagor 8025 control also in excellent condition I've used the past 2 years I also bought for $2000.

You may want to keep looking for a machine already retrofitted. You would be way ahead on the money and labor involved.
