I might be wrong here, unlike some people. But I think alarms of 1000+ are OEM errors.

That means the Hardinge manual should have a list of their own PLC alarms.

Downside is, as 1000 is possibly the first in the list it may just be e-stop, but it could explain why you dont have a servo error i.e. 400, 410.

Do you know how to access the PMC ladder because the 1000 could be in there under a flag or m coding ?

    Thanks for that info,
I looked in the manuals I have and did not find anything on the 1000 alarm. Unfortunately my hardinge manuals are tattered and may not be complete.

I do not know how to acess the pmc ladder, can you acess it through the crt or do you have to have some type of interface?

    Thanks

you can access the PMC ladder through the Settings/ diagnostics pages, but it might not be of much use without the cross reference listing. Check your yellow Fanuc operators manual for the exact key sequence.

The 1000 alarm should be in the PMC ladder as an address, and the logical conditions causing the alarm can be traced to a missing input or "condition".

Do you know a friendly CNC engineer who can pop in and check it for you or someone with full manuals ?

Alternatively, if you have a wiring diagram check all the inputs to the PLC using the input addresses in the manual. You can see the status of these inputs on the diagnostic status page, and by doing a search. i.e. X10.6 input, it will show the line and you can see if the result is a 0 or 1. You then have to decide if this is correct or not, quite often it is common sense.

I did more investigating today. it appears the spindle drive field loss circuit is not closing cr27 which i think closes the e-stop circuit. The e-stop cicuit rings out closed on either side of that relay.

The weird thing is, If I test for voltage from the relay coil terminals to ground I get voltage. there are 2 diodes across the coil terminals and they were pretty hot. The relay is definitely not closing though.

there are some led's lit on the Siemens drive. One red one is labeled stop, an amber one labeled n<nx. One other red one labeled Regl.

    The drive is a Siemens Simoreg 6RA 2625-6d v570A

Anyone know where to get a manual or info on the drive?

    Thanks

    I did some more testing,
I found if hold the pushbuton on the cr27 in to close the contacts, the machine will engage the drives/ hydralics and will home. The hydraulic pump sounds iffy (which the PO told me about) but the machine ran! I ran a program that was on the control and the machine did eveything it was supposed to do, toolchange, spindle speed up/ down.

I need still need to find out why the spindle drive is not allowing the machine to go ready but, At least I know it works.

Hi we have an 1989 version of that machine that is a 4axis. We were having an issue with the e-stop engaging randomly. We replaced the e-stop switch which was showing a high resistance. This did not solve the problem. As in your case, we pulled the 27 and 28cr relays and cleaned the contact which seems to have solved the problem. Also, i have some manuels for the machine, if you need any info from them let me know

    Thanks for that info,
I switched the 2 relays and the machine will now start and run! I ordered 2 new relays as I think the coil on one of them may be weak.I may clean the relay blocks just for good measure too.

Now it seems the collet closer is leaking but, I took a chip with it tonight!

I am having the same problem with 27cr. If I push it in it will hold for a bit so that I can start the machine, but it releases on its own. It seems that the coil is energized but not enough to pull the contacts in. Does anyone know what type of relay to replace it. Hardinge says that it is obsolete. The one I have is a Midland Ross 158-97S1A2.

I am finding out that these machines are complete hell to diagnose. mine went down 6 months ago and i still have yet to get it fixed. I managed to get what i think is complete docs for the thing including prints for the drive boards. Any of the servos and the spindle can make this this go into fault. Not to mention that the boards and impossible to find. I have servo alarms it sounds like I'm fighting a different animal.
