    CHNC 1 HELP !!!!

    Hello,

We have a CHNC 1 lathe with a Fanuc OT-B control and are looking to get this lathe up and running. We have several questions but would like to begin with some sample programs if anyone would be kind enough to pass some on.

Anyone out there have any knowledge of this machine/control?

    Thanks in advance!

    Rich

the standard fanuc programming works on this machine. your best bet is to get a fanuc programming manual, it will explain all the standrad g codes. also if you want you can post a drawing of your part and i'm sure someone will help you program it.

I've owned one about five years now. Mine has been refit to another control but works the same. If you have question on the machine, fire away. if you have questions on programming, I'll defer to others.

    Program Example

I believe this is from a CHNC II with Fanuc control. Not sure of the model, but basic programming will be the same. Only matters when you start using Macros. Haven't had the lathes for several years.

Fairly certain this is not from the CHNCs we had over 20 years ago. They had Allen Bradley controls, and I'm pretty sure they didn't used a G76 canned cycle for threading. This is an NPT.

Being brass it was run dry. Change M3/M4 to M13/M14 if you want coolant.

Something unique to the CHNC machines is that you need to program your collet closer delay for the collet open/close to work. This is done with a macro call that looks like this.

    G65 P9150 H1.0

I usually make this the first line of my program. The H1.0 indicates a 1 second collet open/ close delay. This number can be changed to whatever you like. Just make sure you have the O9150 macro program in your memory.
