I have contacted Hardinge to see what they can tell me about the year and model of this lathe. Sadly, the man at Hardinge, was of little help. I have little faith that I will even get a call back. Oddly, I called Hardinge, and he said he needed to contact hardinge to get the info. Seems that I might have called the "parent" company? Anyway, I had been looking for a medium sized CNC lathe for a mach3 retrofit, and I snatched this off ebay for a bit over the scrap value. I will be more or less gutting it. It will get an AC motor and VFD, Stepper motors and G203V controlers. This will be my 4th retrofit, the most recent being a late 80's bridgeport. I will be scrapping the indexing turret and using gang tooling. I have ordered a maintenence manual, but am having a very hard time finding out much about these lathes. Does anyone have any info they could provide? I am very interested in a parts list or at least a part number for the Y axis ballscrew. The Z screw was allegedly replaced by the PO, but the Y screw is a bit crunchy. No real backlash, but the initial movment is a bit "twitchy" once moving, it smoothes out considerably. I would like to take out the Y axis screw and take a look at it, but I am unsure how to remove it. Any hints? Looking forward to any info you care to share... Nate.

| Nate, what model chnc do you have? i had a chnc I and i have all the manuals for it. mine was also a seimens control. your welcome to come and pick up the manuals as i'm in sterling heights. i would forget about the stock ball screws for the x and z if you really want a gang style lathe. the x axis screw is so short that you won't be able to get enough tools on there. hardinge also closed their in house tech support and its now run by another company that knows very little about these machines and they have no factory training.
