Default CHNC I dead com port??

I believe the com port on my CHNC is dead. does anyone know of a way to test it? I have a theory on how but am wanting advice ,if any exists, before doing so.
CHNC I with general numeric controller
I am using Codeshark (recommended) to try and link up with the unit.
I have gone through numerous configurations, documenting every attempt along the way.
If anyone has the same setup please share, I'll be sure to buy you a beer afterwards..lol

You could hook up one of the simple COM port break-out testers which include line status LED's
I originally made mine but i think they are pretty cheap to buy.
Jumper out the handshake, if it has the 25p D socket it is 4-5 and 6-8-20.
