Haas USB port

Has anyone used one of those external harddrives that you plug into the USB port of your pc instead of a thumbdrive? could this lead to a system crash? I am too chicken to try it.
by trying it I mean just to upload and down load programs.

don't see why it wouldn't work. But wouldn't it be easier to carry a thumbdrive from the computer to the machine rather than an external hdd?

Oh yeah definatly easier, I just happened to have one here cause I am trying to set up a new pc and I was curious.

Isnt there a 2 gigabyte limit on what the haas will read?

Oh BTW windows 7 SUCKS Whos DUMB idea was it to come up with windows 7. most ok if not all of your programs wont run on it. My old thread program I had for the last 15+ years wont work. Now I have to rewrite all my old ms access programs and buy the new version MS Office.

I can second that sentiment.

I bought a new Notebook to take on my travels and then discovered there was a fatal flaw in the wireless access software so I could not get online anywhere and finished up sufferring CNCzone withdrawal symptoms. I think it is fixed now and will find out in a couple of weeks.

Windows 7

I have recently updated to the Windows 7 Operating System.

If you have programs that don't want to load you can right click on the file and go to the properties box of the file before you run it and click on the Compatibility selection at the top of the box and select the option to run in XP Compatibility mode. This has solved several issues for me. It will load it a separate section under the programs directory I think it is listed as (X86) Programs.

Just something that you might want to try.
