I bought a 1991 VF1 recently from a bank-ordered machineshop liquidation... For what I paid for it and the HUGE amount of tooling I'm not upset I'll have to spend a little on it... It spent most of its time cutting graphite sinker electrodes for a EDM so it's filthy. I'm cleaning it up right now and discovered it needed a new keypad. I ordered one from Jeffrey's and they have excellent service BTW. While I've got the front panel apart I'm considering changing out the display (crt?). It's been left on a few times for extended lengths because there is some light code burned into the screen. The monitor is still quite visible but I thought that while I'm in there I might go ahead and replace it too... What is the recommendation here? LED? El cheapo monitor? I know Haas generally wants about $300 for a direct replacement and having just bought a new keypad I don't really want to spend that much particularly if it isn't necessary.
