Nope.
Atleast you have the option of turning it off. Some machines apparently don't. |

Other than some setup periods and cutting jaws or fixtures I never turn on the door overide. In particular I do this because after certain M00 stops in some of my programs there are rapid table movements. My super speed machines rapid at 1400 inches per minute which is far faster than I could react when I'm dredging chips into the auger in the middle of cycles. If someone (or me) were to accidently hit the cycle start it would be messy. I Can't think of anything other than setup where I'd need the doors open during a cycle. Not to mention the puddle of coolant when you press cycle start and walk away not realizing you left the door cracked. It's there for your safety and OSHA would probably have a fit over it. We recently had a shopwide crackdown over safety overides particularly after a setup guy got hit in the face with an indicator that accelerated to 12000 RPM. Try not to forget that these machines will kill/mangle you without thinking twice about it. You don't want to become a horror story your buddies at work tell to your replacement. Greg

I am with you stifler , I go thru the same procedure every morning and I too would like to disable the feature, should be just as simple as turning off the tool release button on the front panel and limit the rapids to 50%, you dont have to re enter those values every time the machine is rebooted . The feature is software based so it should be able to be disabled perm , just unsure if in our current sue happy world HAAS will share exactly how. Unless something has changed OSHA does not currently require the door switch , its required in the EU but not here in the states . I personaly do a lot of work in plastic with the door open

yea i use to have the piece of metal in the door but u still have to pry the metal off the sensor to "cycle door" in the morning or shut off 51 not to mention the preload tool change at whatever it is 2.2 seconds or something.... i for one am not a fan of a 100% rapid tool change with the door open. id rather have the 25% rapid when door is open on that tool change. main reason i ask is that i run 2 SL-20 lathes along with a VF2ss and with lathes u cant see anything with the coolant on, and even with the coolant off the lighting and windows are crap on them. so i like to crack the door and peak in to see whats going on

I know what mean. I can't see a thing in my GT20 when the coolant is on. I've been thinking about installing one of these in the existing window: http://www.t2k.net/products/visiport220c.php

Or, just hit the 25% override (or whatever speed you want) BEFORE homing the machine.

IN the morning I turn the machine on and then turn the door off, if anyone is in the shop I turn the door back to on. I Dont let many people in my shop and those that have always like to see the machine run with the door open. Why I have no freaking clue. it seems that whan you have the door shut and chips and coolant hitting the door like popcorn. there a flashing sign that Automatically reads " Hey Open Me I sound cool" lol when I am programming or quoteing in the office and alone the door override is off. as I never know who is going to walk into the back. My fadal I have no problems with. as its slow and doesnt shoot coolant towards the door nor chips, but that haas sure does and that tool changer is a decapitater. when I am setting up I hit rapids to 5% cause of the tool arm.
