Boring Head

Anyone have any suggestions for a good boring head? Standard Criterion or one of the modular systems? I anticipate boring up to 3" diameter holes.

If you were in the UK I could recommend a BH from www.rdgtools.co.uk. The 3" R8 boring head ( If have a bridgeport ) is excellent. I have just been boring some holes for needle roller casings and had to achieve a tolerance of +- 0.5 thou. The 3/4" bar capacity gives good stiffness. They do ship overseas and they are very cheap, mine was £45. It is of far eastern/oreast european origin but the quality and finish is superb for the money.

Hope this helps.

Boring heads

If it precision head you require I would look at Komet as the they make their own heads & inserts to suit boring application

Iscar and D'Andrea, they are the same. I believe Maritool has an offshore version as well.
